The fourth annual Ladies Day held at Steven’s Pass, Wa. Kicked off a day earlier than usual this year in anticipation for the Seahawks Superbowl game (GO HAWKS!), but that didn’t stop the hundreds of girls of all ages to arrive and spend a day with other like-minded shredders.

There were skiers and boarders of all ages and abilities roaming around the Ladies Day tents as groups met up and started taking off for the hill. I had to squeeze through so many girls. As expected the turnout was HUGE!

This year marked a special kick off for the GRO Snow; they are expanding to other mountains! Crystal and Snoqualmie girls keep your eyes peeled for upcoming ladies day held at your mountains! This expansion has really shown how popular this event is. It also represents the huge influence women have on the industry. With every year getting bigger and better it’s no wonder that 300+ girls showed up!

All day the men were eye balling our set up which only catered to us girls sporting signature pink duct tape on our outerwear.

What gets me every year is the growing sense of community this day brings about. I see girls on Facebook posting to meet up and carpool to the event. Throughout the day, girls encourage one another and constantly round up others to take some laps. Whether it be the Daisy chair or some quick park laps, just the fact that girls of any age and ability have the opportunity to spend a day with other riders is a reason I am personally stoked to have GRO host this event annually and get it out there for more girls to get onto a board (or skis!).

This year wasn’t much different from years past. Sponsors were providing us with snacks, raffles, tune ups and goodie bags! What’s more is that this event had the guys working for us girls. There were four photographers and videographers and also a crew of guys working the Zico booth to give us coconut water all day. Helping the ladies with their boards at the Lib Tech tent were a crowd of awesome guys willing to tune up any girl’s board.

How could this day get any better? Well, this year the raffles were more abundant and more girls got to snag some sweet swag with the proceeds directly contributing to GRO and their mission. Boards, skis, gloves, beanies and free waxes were among the goodies given out. Even swag bags for the first hundred girls to register were available! So remember to mark your calendars for next Superbowl weekend and be sure to sign up FAST! If this trend keeps up next year is going to be even BIGGER!
